The most important part of the ball is the seam. It consists of six rows of stitching that join the leather pieces.
The raised seam acts as a “rudder” for bowlers, allowing them to make the ball deviate (seam movement) when it hits the ground.
In 4-piece balls, the internal stitching holds the quadrants together, while the external seam provides grip for spinners and seamers.

For Men’s Senior Cricket, the ball must meet these strict criteria:
Weight: Between 155.9g and 163g (approx. 5.5 to 5.75 ounces).
Circumference: Between 22.4 cm and 22.9 cm.
Hardness: It is extremely hard; hence, players must wear protective gear (pads, helmets, gloves).
